Shake Out Earthquake Drill

Tomorrow on Thursday 15 October schools, colleges, kindergartens and work places around New Zealand are doing Shake Out Earthquake Drill at 9:15 am.

If there is a real earthquake you need to Drop,Cover and Hold. Drop mean get down on the ground. Cover means get under some cover or cover your head and neck with your arms. Hold means to hold on to something stable like a desk or a table. If you're outside just get in a turtle position.

Always move away from the windows because they could smash to the ground. A good way to stay safe is under a door frame because even though the rest of the building might fall down, the door frame will probably stay up. It's good to stay where you are because there could be aftershocks.
